SHORT’S BREWING

Bellaire, Michigan

Short’s Brewing Company has taken strides to make their brewing operations more sustainable, highlighted by the addition of solar panels on the roof of their production facility in Elk Rapids in 2015. The solar array provides an energy output of 49250 kWh, making up approximately 7% of the facility’s annual energy use.

To complete the project Short’s Brewing Company sought out local resources and worked with CBS Solar and affiliate, Renovo Energy, LLC. CBS Solar, a family-owned and operated business located in Copemish, Michigan, installed 148 photovoltaic (PV) panels on the roof of the Pull Barn building and Packaging Hall. The project was also supplemented by a $35,000 grant provided by USDA Rural Development through the Rural Energy for America program.
